I drove to the nearest Nissan dealership to look at the latest Maxima. I sat in a white SL and it was very nice inside. Surprisingly tempting, considering my parents’ experience with their Murano’s CVT.

Not looking to get rid of the FR-S but I occasionally think about a four door sports car.

I didn’t get a chance to see if the Maxima is worthy of the many “4DSC” labels since they’re were two in inventory: the one in the showroom and one on a plinth.

Has anyone driven one yet?

I’m stating I think that a S4 might be where I’m leaning towards in a few years. It has Quattro and a manual, for now anyways.

Pardon the rambling.

Almost got one for a rental but that didn't work out. How are the materials in the cabin?

You want a 4 door sports car? Get an E90 335i. Hydraulic steering, 300hp, RWD, and manual.

They seemed like great quality to me.

I don't know if I'd go RWD again. It wasn't bad last winter (and that's as bad as winter gets), but I think AWD might be a bit more comforting.

I think I’d rather get the G37 that Nissan (Infiniti) is still selling. It’s more of a 4DSC than the Maxima and since it undercuts the Q50 it’s not that pricey either. It also has a geared auto instead of a CVT is is either RWD or AWD.

How is xdrive?

Pretty good. I don't have xdrive in my 328i and with some good all seasons I've been fine in the DC/Northern VA winters. We get a decent amount of snow too. With xdrive and snow tires you should be 110% fine, only issue might be ground clearance at that point. People with xdrive seem to like it in snowy areas, and it still manages to be pretty fun in the warm months too.

I’m not sure if there is one offered anymore or not. Given that they are winding it down there might not be any left even if they did build them.
